Dear James,

Your summary of the process and goals looks sensible to me. I have only one comment on the timeline (last slide): I would suggest to anticipate the “Community Meeting” to Step#5, and to baseline it in ~October 2025. The rationale of my proposal is three-fold:


  *   It may be beneficial to give to the project proposers the possibility to present their project in a large community forum, and get feed-back. This feed-back may also help us (NASST) if we need to consolidate the projects for the sake of the A&A Special Issue
  *   A meeting where tens of scientific projects are presented and discussed would be a big “boost of confidence” for the science community before the elaboration of the Red Book starts in earnest
  *   A meeting to discuss the content of the Red Book in “early 2026” is too late. We (NASST) will probably need to start working on the Red Book at the beginning of 2026. At that point we shall already have a rather clear idea at least of its table of content

The concept of “Community” [meeting] is not defined in your time-line. I guess you think of a large meeting open to every interested scientist – thus a virtual forum spread over 2-3 afternoons. Is my assumption correct?
